The construction sites aimed atelimination of the hydraulic risk and flooding phenomena of the urban area of Patti Marina.
The rainwater conveyance works in the stretch between via Tenente Natoli and the Montagnareale stream began last March, starting from the artery that connects via Cristoforo Colombo with via Andrea Doria. After a couple of months, Palazzo dell’Aquila then opted for a temporary suspension, establishing the clearing of the construction sites which, in the heart of the seaside village, would not have allowed the full completion of the activities relating to the summer season. Dthe substantial intervention to protect the coast should now proceed unabateddesigned in 2019 under the former Aquino administration and financed for almost two million euros from the Next Generation EU fund. These are two distinct projects, however united by the same purpose: to definitively secure the streets Cristoforo Colombo, Zuccarello and Vespucci, creating an efficient hydraulic shield at the two ends of the seaside village, at the borders of which flow the Montagnareale stream to the west and the Santa Venera to the east. Work which is therefore of an urgent nature with the aim of stemming the fearful phenomenon of flooding which in the past has already caused alarm in the urban area and caused extensive damage to basements, commercial activities and homes on the ground floors.
