“The proposal for open primaries for the election of the Secretary or Provincial Secretary of the PD, launched by the Hon. Leanza, is suggestive and interesting. It is an unprecedented proposal and would be an interesting experiment but it comes too late”. This was stated in a note, Dominic SiracusanoProvincial Coordination Pd Messina, relating to the provincial congress phase started with the calendar approved after the work of the Guarantee Commissions and the Commission for the Congress.

“A few months ago – Siracusano recalled – the Democratic Party of the Province of Messina unanimously gave itself a Congressional Regulation, following a lively and participatory Provincial Assembly, in the presence of the Regional Secretary. That would have been the occasion to share a proposal that we would have certainly supported because we believe it is essential to build an open and inclusive party. Doing it today lends itself to an instrumental interpretation in a delaying logic“.

According to Siracusano, “the Province of Messina needs a strong and structured PD that elects not only the Provincial Secretary but a widespread and capillary management group, better if united and shared, starting from the circles, especially the newly established ones. There is no more time to waste time between bureaucracy and tactics, there is a regulation, there is a certified audience, there are dates: let’s go to the congress and let the PD live within the issues and contradictions of our territory”
