The author of the madness was Fabio Saporito, a 57-year-old butcher, who the other evening was stopped by the police on charges of attempted murder.
The facts
The incident took place on Sunday afternoon in the hamlet of Foresta. Here, according to the reconstruction of the soldiers of the Arma della Stazione and the Norm of Petilia Policastro, the man waited and reached the victim with his car. And once he arrived aboard his car, the unfortunate man was accompanied by Saporito. Who pulled out his rifle and fired a shot that shattered the rear window. The 58-year-old from Mesorache remained unharmed, and the attacker immediately fled.
The investigations
The investigations conducted by the Carabinieri began immediately under the coordination of the deputy prosecutor, Matteo Staccini. Saporito was found about an hour and a half after the raid while he was walking along State Road 109 between Petilia Policastro and Roccabernarda. The butcher had called his lawyer, Antonio Ierardi, indicating the position to hand himself over to the investigators who took him to prison. Subsequent investigations also made it possible to recover the car used for the getaway, hidden in a nearby farmhouse. Inside the trunk, the soldiers found the weapon used for the attempted murder: a 28 caliber sawn-off shotgun, found stolen, still loaded and ready to fire again.
