A definitive historical moment. Mayor Sandro Principe, last night, labeled the extraordinary municipal council in this way, convened by president Francesco Adamo, to approve the agreement scheme and start the construction of the new university hospital in the Rocchi district, along the side of the Unical cubes which will be used for the degree course in Medicine. «It is completely natural that with the Medicine degree course in Arcavacata, the consequence is the creation of the Polyclinic. We have been working towards this result for decades. A small utopia, a dream is realized…”, explained Principe himself at the start of the work. On the one hand, therefore, the mayor of Cosenza Franz Caruso and the “No Scippo” Committee, a civic coordination promoted by various associations and citizen committees – including the No Fusion Committee of Cosenza, the Committee for the Polycentric City (CCP), Dossetti -, Before everything collapses, Buongiorno Cosenza, the Unione Sindacale di Base (USB) and La Base. Everyone is against the decision to move the site planned for the construction of the new hub hospital in the province of Cosenza from Vaglio Lise to the town of Arcavacata. On the other hand, the Municipality of Rende wanted to accelerate the choice of Arcavacata as a natural site for the birth of the new Polyclinic, a choice made by the Region.
