Pope Francis today he spoke to fishermen and seafarers from various Italian navies and before introducing the speech, the Pope entrusts those present to the protection of the Patron Saint Francis of Paola.
The Pope affectionately welcomed fishermen, health workers and families, offering reflections on their roles in society. Addressing the fishermen, he underlined the value of their work, which, despite being hard and full of challenges such as bureaucracy and competition, represents a school of life and an example of unity and community. He invited them to look to Saint Francis of Paola, their patron saint, as a spiritual guide.

Speaking to health workers, the Pope emphasized two crucial aspects. First of all, he recalled the importance of taking care of those who care, underlining that health workers also need support and to be valued for their generosity. Secondly, he highlighted the need for compassion towards the least fortunate, so that no one is excluded from care. He invited us to draw inspiration from figures such as Saint Teresa of Calcutta and Saint Giuseppe Moscati, who dedicated their lives to the marginalized.

Finally, he reiterated the importance of the family, fundamental to supporting the sacrifices and efforts of those who carry out these professions. He urged everyone to cherish family relationships, seen as a true medicine for the soul and body, and asked them to pray for him, offering their blessing.
