It will be rendered to baptize the Torball National Championship, organized by the Italian Paralympic Sport Federation for Pampering and Blind (FisPic), which today will officially start with the first weekend of competitions. The event, which will be divided into two intense days of competition and will see the participation of eight teams and about fifty athletes, engaged in a dense program of meetings.
The games will take place on Saturday from 15 to 20 and Sunday from 08 to 13, offering a unique opportunity to promote the value of the Paralympic sport and the extraordinary dedication of the athletes involved. The goal, in fact, is always to make Paralympic sports part of the sports culture of public opinion, derubricating them from the role of “Serie B sport”. The event will be enriched by the presence of the National President of the FisPic Sandro Di Girolamo accompanied by members of the Federal Management, testifying to the importance of the initiative in the national sports scene.
Rende is confirmed as a strategic reference point for the FisPic, thanks to a constant commitment in promoting inclusive sport and synergy with the ASD Polisportiva Olympia, a reference point for local fans. Not surprisingly, thanks to the commitment by the administration led by Manna, the Municipality, together with the FisPic who had married the project, won national funds for the construction of the first national building dedicated to the Paralympic disciplines for the blind. This structure, still under construction in the Marquis area, represents an excellence for the entire Calabrian territory, placing itself as a model of innovation in the sports field that our region has not yet known, not seeing the presence of similar facilities. In the afternoon, the president of Girolamo will make an inspection to make sure on the state of the works.
To underline the importance of this work, Giovanni Bilotti, a member of the board of the ASD Polisportiva Olympia: «We believe that the Multifunctional Sports Center of Rende, also in the 2030 agenda perspective on sustainable development, constitutes a strategic pole for the territory. It can significantly contribute to the redevelopment of the affected area, becoming an aggregative center where sport and inclusion without barriers are transformed into tools of well -being and social cohesion. For this reason, we hope that this work will be placed at the center of the programs of those who intend to apply for the next Rende elections. Days like today must constitute a reminder for all of us to remind us how much conquered and how much there is still to be done together in the area. Nobody would have thought of hosting sixty blind athletes in a national competition in Rende, tomorrow we will be able to do much more but we need everyone’s commitment ».
With this event and with the future completion of the new building, it makes its role as a city symbol of Paralympic sport strengthens, actively promoting the accessibility and right of all to practice sports at a competitive level. If the future is a promise, days as their commitment will be sweeping today. A commitment that represents an opportunity for all of Calabria and that must be honored with concrete actions.
