Free entrances in regional museums and places. Today open doors without tickets in homage to women. On Monday, however, a day dedicated to the sixth anniversary of the tragic death of Sebastiano Tusa, which took place in the air disaster of 2019 in Ethiopia. Also this year on 10 March the Region will propose numerous initiatives to celebrate the day dedicated to the great archaeologist and regional councilor. “An opportunity to remember his priceless bequests, to continue in the wake of him and transmit to the new generations the love for history and for archeology”, comments the councilor for cultural heritage, Francesco Paolo Scarpinato. In Sicily, the program launched by the Naxos-Taormina Archaeological Park also stands out: free guided tour with a two-itey story by the archaeologist of the Maria Grazia Vanaria Park and the Fender Martine Guide, with the participation of the tourist companions of the province of Messina. The visit will start at 9 for a duration of three hours and will include the museum and the excavation areas of the ancient Naxos. In addition, the Mafravilla Archaeological Museum of Francavilla of Sicily, in agreement with the Municipality, will carry out an extraordinary opening from 10 to 14, always with free admission.
In Messina instead, the museum will be visited for free from 12 to 19. Sebastiano Tusa will be remembered with an image and some news on the Roman rostrum found in the archaeological section. An exceptional specimen among the many uncovered in the seabed of the Mediterranean, for the fact of preserving part of the wooden bow of the war ship to which it was hooked as an offense weapon and for the trident in relief with three swords that adorns its sides. The important find was recovered in 2008 in the Bay of Acqualadroni.
