This is what is written in a note from the Archdiocese of Rossano Cariati after the news of the conviction of a priest originally from Longobucco was released. The priest, who has lived in Rome for some time, agreed to a sentence of one year and four months in prison. He was accused of attempted robbery and injury to a woman with whom he allegedly had a relationship. The disputed events took place in Rome in 2021.
«The Archdiocese of Rossano Cariati – we read in the note – in becoming aware of the news regarding one of its priests in relation to actions attributed to him and currently the subject of attention, wishes to express the following: deep sorrow and sincere regret for what has emerged; sincere closeness, human and spiritual, as well as full solidarity with the person who is the victim of the events reported; total trust in the work of the judiciary”.
