The composition of the council commissions will also be announced today, during the assembly session in Piazza 15 Marzo, convened for this morning at 10am. Biagio Faragalli’s legislature therefore comes fully into play, already outlined in recent months, however, just after the election as president of the Province of the mayor of Montalto Uffugo, whose candidacy met with the unanimous support of the centre-right coalition.

The meeting recently also approved the financial documents relating to the budget, with Faragalli now focused on structuring the executive, making official today the powers assigned to the councilors in recent weeks.

The vice presidency in Belvedere

And on that occasion there was no shortage of surprises, at least with respect to the vice presidency. Yes, as the indications on the eve led to the attribution of the role to Fratelli d’Italia, as had been the case in the previous Succurro council.

The task ended, however, in Southern Italy, probably with a view to balancing the government team, “which must be cohesive and deeply rooted in the territories”, underlined Faragalli when conferring the delegations. Federico Belvedere will take on the role of vice president, ready to also lead youth policies. The Melonians, however, will coordinate the sectors of school construction and territorial planning, through, respectively, Antonino De Lorenzo and Pasquale De Franco, with Forza Italia, Faragalli’s party, which has received four delegations: Traffic, entrusted to Giuseppe Turano, Sport and education attributed to Silvio Cascardo, Productive Activities and Healthcare which will be handled by Gabriella Luciani, Environment, entrusted to Luigi Garofalo and the Heritage and Budget, coordinated by Caterina Bruno.

Administrative action begins

Once the delegations have been assigned and the commission composed, therefore, the administrative action begins in all respects, «whose objective – explained the president – is to relaunch the role of the provincial body, making it closer to the municipalities and more effective in responding to citizens.

We want a dynamic, modern Province close to the mayors and local communities. The Province – Faragalli’s gloss – must return to being a point of reference for the territories.”
