The councilor for sport, youth policies and sports infrastructures of the Calabria Region, Caterina Capponicommunicates the publication of the public notice “Sport and suburbs 2025”, promoted by the Department for Sport of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.
The initiative, which provides unprecedented resources – 110 million euros, which will be added an additional 70 million from the development and cohesion fund – represents a concrete opportunity for the Calabrian municipalities to invest in the improvement and efficiency of local sports infrastructures, with a strong impact on the well -being of communities and on social inclusion.
“Sport – declares the commissioner Capponi – is an extraordinary tool of cohesion and social regeneration, especially in the peripheral and fragile areas of our region. Sports infrastructures are not only places of physical practice, but real educational and aggregative Presidia. Forces with force all the municipalities of Calabria to participate in this call, taking a unique opportunity to enhance the public sports heritage and invest in the future of our young generations”.
Councilor Capponi also aims to applaud the Minister for Sport and young people, Andrea Abodiand to the government, for strategic vision and for the concrete commitment to make sport a really accessible right and a social transformation engine. “The choice to invest in such a significant way in sports infrastructures – says Capponi – testifies to the desire to face territorial inequalities with courage, starting from those realities where the need for redemption and opportunities is the stronger.”
The notice is divided into two lines of intervention:
Line A, aimed at municipalities with at least 5,000 inhabitants (or reaching this threshold through agreements between neighboring municipalities), for the redevelopment of existing sports facilities. The maximum contribution for each intervention is € 1.5 million.
Line B, reserved for municipalities with more than 15,000 inhabitants, for the construction of sports halls according to design models provided by Sport and Health Spa. The maximum contribution is € 3 million.
In both cases, the financial sharing of the beneficiary municipalities is envisaged. Applications can be submitted exclusively through the dedicated platform of the Department for Sport, available at: https://avvisibandi.sport.governo.it/, from 12:00 on 5 May 2025 and until 12:00 on 16 June 2025.
Councilor Capponi also underlines the importance of the institutional vision shared at the basis of the announcement: “The synergy between the state, regions and local authorities is today more fundamental than ever to implement inclusive and lasting policies”.
