Following the complaint presented by 25 professional nurses from the operating block of the “Bianchi Melacrino Morelli” Metropolitan Hospital in Reggio Calabria on 01.07.2025, the Territorial Labor Inspectorate has convened the company top management for 29 December in order to carry out the monocratic conciliation attempt.
The 25 nurses in the operating block had warned the GOM to grant them the compensation due to healthcare professionals who, in carrying out their work, are exposed to radiological risk.
Like the colleagues of the cardiac surgery of the GOM in 2023 and the nurses of the Mater Domini University Hospital of Catanzaro in 2022, who had obtained recognition of their right, the Reggio nurses turned to the lawyer. Paolo Pitaro to request recognition of the allowance and additional ordinary leave pursuant to law no. 460/1988.
In the complaint forwarded by the workers to the territorial labor inspectorate we read that “starting from June 2020, the twenty-five nurses have had the payment of the radiological risk allowance unjustifiably suspended and can no longer benefit from the days of additional ordinary leave recognized by law without even having first been informed of this suspension and without knowing the reasons that led the employer to adopt such an illegitimate measure”.
At the end of the conciliation attempt, if the parties are unable to reach an agreement, the GOM could be subjected to detailed checks by labor inspectors in order to shed light on the matter.
The Acta Commissioner for the implementation of the plan to reduce the deficit in the health sector of the Calabria Region, Hon. Roberto Occhiuto, was interested in the issue, so that, within his sphere of competence, he adopts the necessary measures to put an end to the matter and recognize the workers the radiological risk compensation prescribed by law.
