Rai New Year’s Eve 2026 in Catanzaro: the safety plan defined by the Provincial Committee

The Prefect of Catanzaro Castrese De Rosa chaired a meeting of the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security, which was attended, in addition to the Catanzaro Police Commissioner Giuseppe Linares and the heads of the other Police Forces, the mayor Fiorita, the vice-president of the Province, Fire Brigade, Traffic Police, Regional Civil Protection, the RAI and Film Commission Calabria managers.

During the meeting, the various organizational and safety aspects linked to the programming of the RAI New Year’s Eve 2026 which this year will be held in Catanzaro. Particular attention was paid to the preparation of the necessary ‘safety’ and ‘security’ measures, to health profiles and to the provision of emergency vehicles, to the management of vehicular traffic and to the identification of appropriate parking areas for vehicles to be served with specific shuttle services to facilitate the influx of spectators, to the prohibition of the administration of alcoholic beverages beyond a certain time, to the quota of entrances.

On this occasion, the opportunity to establish a building in the event area was also evaluated control roommade up of institutional subjects responsible for safety management and other professionals, with the aim of promptly dealing with any critical issues that may arise.

“The collaboration between the various bodies involved – declared the Prefect Castrese De Rosa – will be fundamental to manage the event in the best possible way, ensuring the success of the Rai New Year’s Eve 2026 and guaranteeing, at the same time, maximum safety and tranquility for citizens and tourists. Fundamental, in this sense, will be the preparation of a traffic plan and a health plan, as well as the collaboration and common sense on the part of all those who will flock to the area dedicated to the event. Further meetings will follow aimed at defining the detailed aspects of the organization of the event, in order to arrive at the New Year with an organizational machine worthy of an event of national resonance.”.

For this reason, it was agreed to update the table until next December 2nd, when the first draft of the safety plan that will be prepared by the organization of the important event will be evaluated.

In the meantime, all the necessary inspections will be carried out to be able to define the plan down to the smallest details, in a sort of work in progress that leads to the final text of the plan in a
fully shared.

This was a preliminary discussion which will be refined in the next technical tables in order to also reach the necessary communication to the population in good time.

The Committee then dealt with the project “Safe Schools 2025-2026”presented by the Municipality of Catanzaro and financed by the Ministry of the Interior with resources from the Urban Security Fundfor an amount of just over 25 thousand euros, with the main objective of strengthening actions to prevent and combat drug dealing near schools.

The project, in particular, involves the use of Local Police operators in control activities near the twelve schools already identified and the carrying out of information campaigns and meetings with students, aimed at making them acquire greater awareness of the risks of drug use, also with the delivery of information material.
