Reggina conquers Favara and obtains three points from the recovery of the penultimate match of the first round. The success allows the Amaranths to climb to third place and halve the gap from the top of the table (Syracuse is now three points ahead).
Another convincing victory for the Amaranths, who immediately started very strong only to suffer an episode that made the challenge uphill. Trocini’s team, however, managed to keep calm and win the contest at a distance.
From the first minutes the Amaranths were good at imposing their game, asserting their technical superiority and finding the advantage after a series of scoring opportunities. It was Barranco who broke the deadlock, doing well to capitalize on a nice cross from Grillo from the left with a header.
Reggina’s shortcoming was that they were unable to extend their lead with other scoring opportunities, exposing themselves to the risk of conceding a draw. The 1-1 was made by Varela, who was good at heading the ball and taking advantage of a phase of the game in which his marker Girasole was left on the ground after a previous tackle.
At the end of the first half the circumstance made Reggina a little nervous and for a long time they were no longer able to find the fluidity of the game in the first part of the match. However, the Amaranths achieved victory in the final part of the match with the quality of their best performers. A triangle developed on the Ragusa-Barranco axis, closed by a backheel from the Argentine who freed the former Messina striker to shoot. His right-footed shot, halfway through the second half, was worth the new amaranth overtaking.
Shortly afterwards the 3-1 also arrived with Cham, good at anticipating everyone with his head on the development of a corner and closing the match. Reggina is now more than ever in the running to win the championship, especially after the convincing performances in the series in recent weeks.
The question relating to last Sunday’s Scafatese-Reggina match remains suspended, the result of which (1-1) has not yet been approved after the Campanians’ advance announcement of an appeal. The issue concerns alleged critical issues regarding the membership of Renelus. Calm filters through the Amaranth club after the initial checks on the situation.
