Reggina, towards Sambiase in general disinterest

Reggina resumes training today. The amaranths are preparing to experience the last day of the tournament at home against Sambiase. A match that is arriving in the general disinterest of an environment that now only wants answers about the future. On the horizon, a tail end of the regular season that risks having little use. In theory, the Strait team is still in the running for a promotion play-off: but it would require a failure for Nissa against Paternò (already relegated) and an internal defeat for league leaders Savoia against Sancataldese. Beyond a remote possibility given by arithmetic, there is nothing that keeps amaranth hopes alive. Scoring as many points as possible, however, helps you stay ready in case the off-field situations mentioned above create the conditions for a surprise ending. Even if this scenario today seems all too hypothetical.
On Sunday 10 May, however, Reggina will play the first round of the playoffs. Last year they could have made a lot of sense from a repechage perspective, considering the Amaranths’ high average points. However, winning them was not enough to get a place in Serie C and this says a lot about the situation this season. In the mechanism of alternating calls, in the event of vacancies in the third series, this year it will be up to a new second team from Serie A first, then to a relegated C team, then one from D and then to a second team from A to D. The reversal of the two intermediate calls closes the doors a little more to Reggina. It remains to be seen whether Reggina will be second against fourth or third (a position which is already certain and more probable) against fifth. Athletic Palermo and Gelbison compete for fourth and fifth position. The pairings will be revealed on Sunday.
