There are 95 jobs at risk in the Conte.it contract, which was discussed today in the Region with the Councilor for Labor Giovanni Calabrese and the deputy mayor of the Municipality of Lamezia Terme Michelangelo Cardamone, in the presence of the trade union organizations Slc-Cgil, Fistel-Cisl and Uilcom-Uil and the company RSAs.
Complaints from trade unions: possible circumvention of the social clause
During the discussion, the trade union organizations forcefully represented the concrete risk of job losses, linked to a possible circumvention of the social clause. According to what emerged, the client company would be progressively transferring its activities to another supplier, motivating this choice with the decline in volumes and with savings on labor costs, without guaranteeing the transfer of the workers involved, as required by law 11/2016 (social clause in call centers) and by the Telecommunications National Collective Labor Agreement.
Request for intervention at institutional tables
A situation which, if confirmed, would set a serious precedent and have a very heavy employment impact on the area. The trade union organizations have therefore already requested the urgent activation of a table at the Prefecture and a discussion at ministerial level, in order to verify compliance with the rules and protect employment levels.
The commitment of the Region and the position of the workers’ representatives
During the meeting, the Calabrian regional councilor took charge of the problem, undertaking the commitment to take immediate action to raise awareness among the Prefecture and the competent ministries, with the aim of quickly convening the required institutional tables.
“It is not acceptable that, following market dynamics, the cost of company choices is passed on to workers – declare the trade unions -. The social clause must be respected and jobs must be defended without ambiguity”. As trade union organizations we will continue to monitor the evolution of the dispute with the utmost attention, implementing all the necessary initiatives to protect the workers involved.
