A month ago Francesco Cannizzaro announced Piazza Pulita, an extraordinary plan to free Reggio Calabria from the grip of piles of waste. An atavistic problem which, especially in the suburbs, offered a less than positive postcard of the city. Through his social profiles he outlined the situation. “Today – he recalled – is exactly one month since we started the Clean Square operation. The numbers continue to grow because we have 226 offenders caught and sanctioned, four reported to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for having disposed of special waste, two vehicles seized and one arrested. I sincerely thank the operators, the Local Police officers because they are tirelessly doing the enormous job”.
There will be a new waste collection plan: Cannizzaro’s announcement
The mayor suggests that the waste issue is an issue on which we do not want to stop, with the desire to chart a new path. “The ‘decorum objective’ program – he highlighted – continues, without interruption because you must know that there are streets, neighborhoods that had never been cleaned, even where the grass had never been mowed. At the same time we are developing the new collection plan with many innovations. The specifications referred to in the contract had never been applied in recent years. We will do it, we will present it to the city, we will work and we will continue to do so without interruption to make Reggio more decorous and cleaner”.
