Local police crackdown on illegal trading at the Friday market in Largo Botteghelle.

Following targeted services carried out as part of the national and transnational Focus ‘Ndrangheta programme, around three hundred items of counterfeit goods were seized, sold in violation of the rules on the protection of original brands.

Fake goods and complaints

The goods seized bore false signs attributable to some of the most famous brands. A man was reported for commercial fraud and sale of goods with counterfeit brands, while a second person fled, abandoning the goods.

The checks, also carried out in civilian clothes, are part of the broader plan to combat illegal commercial practices and protect fair competition. As part of the same device, another seller was sanctioned for irregular sales.

Checks also on the seafront

In a separate activity, the traffic police force was involved in a traffic control on the Falcomatà seafront promenade, where six people caught transiting the pedestrian area with bicycles and electric scooters in violation of the highway code were identified and sanctioned.

The services will also continue in the next few days. The principle of not guilty remains valid for those reported until a final sentence is reached.
