«The Municipality must take advantage of the opportunity to scrap the taxes. The word “scrapping” arouses mistrust: it seems like a gift to tax evaders and an injustice towards those who have always paid. But in Reggio the problem is not ideological, it is accounting and structural.” This is supported by Enzo Cuzzola, former municipal councilor and budget manager as well as being an expert in public finance. «The active residues exceed 700 million euros. Of these – Cuzzola explains -, over 70% is covered by the Doubtful Credit Fund. In essence, the Municipality admits that a large part of the credits recorded in the budget will never become actual collections”.
