Appeal rejected, indictment confirmed and first judicial truth on the attempted murder, disguised as a road accident, against Giorgio Benestare, known as “Franco”, hit on 26 May 2021 in the Archi district of Reggio Calabria by a white “Fiat Doblò” van while he was walking along via Croce Cimitero, a short distance from his home. Benestare, who according to the DDA of Reggio is among the historic exponents of the gangs of northern Reggio, was saved by a pure miracle, suffering very serious injuries.

The Supreme Court of Cassation, rejecting the appeal of the defense lawyers, the lawyers Corrado Politi and Luca Cianferoni, confirmed the sentence of 13 years and 6 months of imprisonment inflicted on Emilio Molinetti, who the anti-mafia prosecutor of Reggio indicates among the emerging young people of the Archi clan of the same name. The civil party was represented by the lawyer Francesco Calabrese. “The contested mafia aggravating circumstance” remains excluded.
The other young man involved in the affair, Marco Geria, was convicted in the parallel summary trial.
