The Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Reggio Calabria, Paolo Brunetti, has joined the Democratic Party. The decision was made in the belief of adhesion to the values and objectives of the party, which now finds full coherence in the choice of direct commitment, with a view to strengthening and renewing the political action of the Party, inside and outside the territorial institutions.
After a parenthesis in the civic movements and within Italia Viva, Deputy Mayor Brunetti, a key figure in the municipal administration led by Mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà, has chosen to actively contribute to the political project of the Democratic Party, consolidating his position within the centre-left majority.
“Joining the Democratic Party represents the natural evolution of a political and administrative path shared with Mayor Falcomatà, a sort of homecoming, in the context of a political family to which I feel I belong” declared Deputy Mayor Paolo Brunetti. “I have always believed in the values of progressive reformism and in the need to combine the best energies to give concrete answers to our city. Joining the PD means strengthening this team, working alongside mayor Falcomatà, now a new regional councillor, for a more open, inclusive party, representative of the needs of our territory, putting the experience gained in recent years in my militancy in the center-left and, lastly, also in the municipal executive of which I have the honor of serving has been going for years now.”
Mayor Falcomatà welcomed the choice of the Deputy Mayor, believing that Brunetti’s membership represents an element of further impetus to local government action.
“We welcome Paolo Brunetti’s decision with great satisfaction” commented the Mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà. “His seriousness, his competence, his political and administrative skills, in addition to his territorial roots in the Reggio area will be precious resources for the Party. Paolo’s entry into the PD is an important signal that strengthens our identity and consolidates the unity of the centre-left. The hope is that many, including administrators and citizens, can join the Party, helping to strengthen and take root in it more and more, at an important moment which also looks to the next administrative deadlines”.
