Today, following investigations coordinated by the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Court of Reggio Calabria, the Police executed a preventive seizure decree issued by the investigating judge of the Court of Reggio Calabria concerning the association “Odv Centro Antiviolenza Margherita” with registered office in Reggio Calabria and the properties managed by the same for the exercise of its activities located in Reggio Calabria and in the province of Avellino.
Origin of the investigation and the alleged kidnapping
The measure, carried out by the men of the Flying Squad of Reggio Calabria, with the help of the Flying Squad of Avellino, arose from the results of a detailed investigative activity that originated from the reported kidnapping, in March 2024, of Tiziana Iaria, legal representative of the Anti-Violence Centre.
The technical investigations and the denial of the facts
The investigative activity carried out by the Police, carried out through telephone and telematic interception activities, acquisition of telephone and telematic traffic records, as well as through the acquisition and subsequent analysis of the video footage of the video surveillance systems placed along the route traveled by Iaria, both before and after the reported kidnapping, has made it possible to acquire elements such as to be able to ascertain, at the current stage of the proceedings, the untruthfulness of what was reported regarding the kidnapping. According to what Iaria reported to the investigators, after returning to her home, her kidnapping was perpetrated by unknown subjects who, after stunning her, took her to a place she did not recognize, and then brought her back to Reggio Calabria the following morning.
Sending messages and investigative hypotheses
On the evening of the woman’s disappearance, her husband received a message on the social network Facebook from a profile unknown to him, in which the sender reassured him that they would take Iaria home as soon as she recovered, declaring that the intent of the action was only to scare her. The analysis of the electronic traffic records acquired during the investigations made it possible to obtain, conversely, elements such as to hypothesize that the message in question to the husband’s address had been forwarded by Iaria herself.
Contested crimes and professional illegal practices
For these reasons, Tiziana Iaria is under investigation for the crimes of false information to the Public Prosecutor, simulation of a crime, slander and abusive practice of the profession of psychologist. During the investigations, in fact, episodes were reconstructed in which the suspect would have exercised, without having the right, the profession of psychologist towards some unsuspecting victims of violence who turned to the “ODV Centro Antiviolenza Margherita” association managed by the same, going so far, in some cases, as far as prescribing drugs to the aforementioned victims.

Today’s operation underlines the commitment of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the State Police to protect victims of violence.
