Having left Porto Empedocle, the Siremar ferry “Paolo Veronese” docked at the port of Reggio Calabria with 630 migrants of Tunisian and sub-Saharan nationality on board. Among them there are several minors, many of whom are unaccompanied. The conditions of the migrants should be quite good although it seems that there are several cases of scabies. Reception operations are coordinated by the prefecture of Reggio Calabria.

The disembarkation began on the eastern pier where 331 migrants will have to be identified and photographed by the police. The other 299, however, have already been photographed in Porto Empedocle and will be immediately transferred to their destination locations: 225 migrants will go to Gallico, on the northern outskirts of the city where the Prefecture has set up a first reception center and where there are still 181 migrants from the landing which took place in recent days. The other migrants, on board buses, will be transferred according to the distribution established by the Ministry of the Interior. In particular, 100 will go to Vibo Valentia, 80 to Crotone, 109 to Ardore, 36 to Stilo and 80 to Roccella Jonica. Of the 225 migrants who will be placed in Gallico this evening, around seventy will reach other Calabrian reception centers in the next few hours.
