Reggio, Forza Italia on the attack: “Piazza De Nava like the Bridge over the Calopinace: 30 meters of inefficiency”

Another political storm over the endless construction sites that are paralyzing the heart of Reggio Calabria. The city councilors of Forza Italia are sounding the charge against Palazzo San Giorgio, who in a note point the finger at the resurfacing of the road surface in via Demetrio Tripepi, close to Piazza De Nava.

Forza Italia’s attack: «Only 30 metres, but it’s chaos»

For the Azzurri exponents, what should have been a normal maintenance operation turned into yet another slap in the face of the city.
«Probably from Palazzo San Giorgio the current tenants see it as the greatest work ever carried out in Reggio by the Left – the opposition councilors joke – but the truth is that what is being staged in Piazza De Nava is the worst performance of the ravine theatre. Less than 30 meters of road has become more complicated to manage than any other construction site ever recorded.”
The cry of alarm mainly concerns traffic disruptions, with a strategic crossroads in the historic center interrupted for over a month now, except for a few days defined by the councilors as an “unsuccessful test”.

The comparison with the Bridge over the Calopinace

Forza Italia does not spare criticism of the council, comparing the Piazza De Nava construction site to another symbol of the unfinished Reggio area: the Bridge over the Calopinace.
«The measurement of 30 meters reminds us of something – the Forzisti insist – namely the Bridge over the Calopinace. There we find the tragicomic paradox: 7 years after the laying of the first stone, the Brunetti-Falcomatà-Battaglia Administration has achieved, on average, just over a centimeter per day. In fact, not even that, since the end is not in sight. Not even in the third world, without modern tools, would one see such slowness.”

«Electoral inaugurations at the expense of citizens»

According to the Forza Italia delegation, the intervention on Via Tripepi is the emblem of “inefficiency and incompetence of the award-winning company Battaglia & Company”. The criticism then shifts to the communicative narrative of the majority, accused of wanting to mask failures with superficial ceremonies.
“There are those who still pass off as “restoration of normality” something that doesn’t exist – conclude the Italian councilors – but we are certain that between now and the end of May we will see many walkways and many ribbons cut, even for this tiny stretch of road”.
The opposition promises battle in the chamber, asking for certain times for the return of full vehicle access to the area and the end of what they define as a “bureaucratic ordeal” for the city’s roads.
