The Court of Appeal of Reggio CalabriaFirst Criminal Section, defined this evening the process conventionally named Galaxyafter the annulment with postponement ordered by the Court of Cassation in December 2023.
In particular, the judges of Piazza Castello excluded the so-called economic aggravating circumstance referred to in the sixth paragraph of the art. 416bis and redetermined the sentence for Domenico Tegano (defended by the lawyer Francesco Albanese) in 9 years, 1 month and 10 days of imprisonment, for Francesco Franco (defended by the lawyers Giuseppe Musolino and Luca Cianferoni, with the collaboration of the lawyer Elisabetta Ascone) in 7 years, 1 month and 10 days of imprisonment and for Bruno Danilo Natale Ianni (which was recognized as having generic mitigating circumstances, defended by the lawyers Basilio Pitasi and Dario Vannetiello) in 7 years.
The three defendants were immediately released from prison. The “Galaxy” operation had postulated the existence of a network of criminal associations spread across the national territory and also active abroad in the gaming and betting collection sector, in connection with the ‘Ndrangheta.
