They were delivered to the school community of‘Severi’ higher education institute in Gioia Taurothe new premises intended for the ‘Nautical’ section. This is an intervention financed by the Metropolitan City of Reggio Calabria, for an amount of approximately 180 thousand eurosand built in a property confiscated from organized crime, of approximately 460 m2, along the SS 111.

For the occasion, the metropolitan mayor, Giuseppe Falcomatà, was present, together with the deputy mayor Carmelo Versace, with responsibility for school buildings, the councilor delegate for Education, Rudi Lizzi and the metropolitan manager of the Construction sector, Giuseppe Mezzatesta. The new school complex was requested by the director of the Severi Institute, due to the urgent need to find new rooms to be used as classrooms in anticipation of the increase in the school population expected for the year 2024-2025.

The metropolitan city therefore decided to allocate the confiscated premises for this purpose, having previously verified that it had dimensional characteristics suitable for the purpose, making all the technical/structural modifications and improvements, carried out by the in-house company, Castore spl srl. The required 6 classrooms have been created, a laboratory, a secretariat, a storage room and toilets divided into teachers, pupils and disabled people. The ‘Nautical’ section therefore returns to Gioia Tauro, after several years during which it was also hosted uncommonly. The works began in the first half of August and were completed on September 30th. All new classrooms are equipped with thermal comfort with the installation of nine air conditioners and heat pumps.
