Giovanni Muraca is the last of the Mohicans. The last to hold aloft the center-left banner. The former regional councilor of the Democratic Party, in fact, is the new president of the Second Constituency – the only one won by the centre-left -, despite the fact that the Democratic Party did not support him. Muraca’s choice to start again from the district was “curious”: you don’t see many politicians, who have been municipal councilors and then regional councilors, who risk everything and start again at the lowest level. But Gianni Muraca is like that: he is generous and is always ready to get involved in the service of the party, the coalition and, above all, the territory.
President, congratulations on the victory. You took a big risk, you know?
«I know it very well. I risked everything and went “all in”. However, I couldn’t back out and decided to put my face to it. Luckily it went very well.”
If he had run for the Municipality, his votes would have made the centre-left’s defeat less bitter.
«The choice to run for the constituency came from the party. We considered that it was more important to give space to outgoing city councilors. My presence would have created confusion and so I preferred to give space to Bongani. Cuzzocrea and Quartuccio”.
