A total value of approximately 3.5 million euros was seized yesterday in Reggio Calabria by the men of the anti -crime division of the Police Headquarters, in execution of a provision issued by the Court – Section Prevention Measures, on a joint proposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office and the Quaestor of Reggio Calabria.
The seizure measure, adopted in the field of anti -mafia legislation, affected in particular A company operating in the production of concrete, concrete and in the crushing of inert, which is considered attributable to an entrepreneur from Reggio active in the residential and non -residential sector.
The man, already arrested on 13 October 2023 as part of the “Fourth Act” operation, was indicated as a reference entrepreneur of the powerful “books” gang. The arrest took place in execution of an order for pre -trial detention issued by the investigating judge of Reggio Calabria on 3 October. At first instance, the subject was sentenced to 10 years and 8 months in prison.
According to what was reconstructed by the investigators, the seized company would have been used to facilitate the illegal activities of the clan, imposing the purchase of concrete exclusively through this company, formally headed by the entrepreneur’s children. The property investigations have also revealed that part of the revenues was destined for the gang, which also received other advantages, including the hiring of staff reported by the parts of the clan and contributions for the maintenance and legal costs of the member of prisoners.
The kidnapping, arranged “in the state of the documents and made subsequent assessments on the merits”, concerns:
a limited liability company, with its corporate assets, including a vast land on which the concrete system stands;
32 industrial vehicles;
4 plots of land;
a property on the ground floor;
cash and circular checks for a total of 423,718.08 euros.
The operation confirms the commitment of the police and the judiciary in the fight against mafia infiltration in the economic fabric of the Reggina province, in particular in the neurgical sector of construction.
