A new mini-refreshment intervention of the beach of Sant’Alessio Siculo will not materializeas hoped for in recent months by the municipal administration that hoped to be able to use the economies of the 13 million euro economic framework of the coast safeguarding works.
The solution identified by the Municipality provided for the withdrawal of the sand from an overlluvial deposit to the mouth of the Agrò stream, for a total of about 10,000 cubic meters and an estimated cost in 150,000 euros, and the shelf to pay the beach at via Domenico Costa, the stretch most exposed to the action of the wards and more impressed by the erosion during the storm of 17-18 January.
The commissioner structure for the fight against hydrogeological instability, with which a dialogue was underway, however, explained how there are no residual sums to carry out other works but only for the design and monitoring costs and therefore, for the moment, it will not be possible to carry out an intervention in quick times even if, in the future, it can be discussed to design another.
