The crew of the Nemo 11-08 helicopter, from the Catania Coast Guard Air Base, rescued and saved two researchers and about twenty lizards that had remained stranded on the Faraglione rock on the island of Salina. The two biologists, a 31-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man, are involved in a project to repopulate native species of lizards in the Aeolian Islands and had gone with canoes to the Faraglione rock for their research. The sudden worsening of the sea weather conditions made it impossible for them to return with the means available. CircoMare Lipari, which coordinated the rescue, sent the Nemo 11-08 helicopter of the Catania Coast Guard, which recovered the two biologists, who were then transported to the hospital in Lipari to check their health conditions, and about twenty lizards.
