Roccella, dredging begins: six months of work to reopen access to the port

The long-awaited and urgent measure was in the air. Now it is official also given the specific ordinance issued by the Port Authority of Roccella directed by the vessel lieutenant, Marco Di Benedetto. In the Locride seaport, therefore, everything is ready, even at an administrative and bureaucratic level, for the start of the dredging works to be carried out in the entire sea area that has to do with the entrance to the Port. These are very important works, long awaited for months and months following the siltation that had now formed, making the situation in terms of transit both in and out of the Roccello seaport, the only equipped and functional one, extremely difficult – and in various situations, due to the unstable weather and sea conditions – blocked, also with regards to the rescue and rescue operations of thousands of migrants, in approximately 300 kilometers of Ionian sea between the provinces of Reggio Calabria, Catanzaro and Crotone.
