In Messina the endless construction site of the Vascone market: extension until April

Work on the Vascone market should finally restart within about ten days. The conditional, given the precedents, is a must, but the procedure identified after yet another ultimatum given by the Municipality to the company “SL Infrastrutture Srl”, with which a contract worth almost 836 thousand euros was signed three years ago, i.e. the sub-contracting to another company, now seems to be at the point.
It is no coincidence that just a week ago, the Maintenance Services department of Palazzo Zanca, communicating that “despite the progress of the extraordinary maintenance interventions, the construction site is still in progress and requires further time for the complete completion of the works, making it impossible to respect the originally scheduled deadlines”, asked for an extension of the provision with which, last February, on the one hand the closure of the market and on the other the temporary transfer of commercial operators to the parking area in Via Catania were ordered.
And so the Basile council, on the proposal of councilor Massimo Finocchiaro, has moved in this direction, extending the closure of the market for works to next April 30th and «to exempt from the payment of the single property fee», again until April 30th, «the operators who have requested temporary relocation to the area in front of the Vascone market.
