Road accident this afternoon on the A18 Messina-Catania motorway. The accident occurred in the stretch between the Taormina and Giardini Naxos junctions, towards Catania.
According to an initial reconstruction, still under investigation, the driver of a Fiat Panda lost control of the vehicle, which overturned inside the “Giardini” tunnel. A rental car was also involved in the crash.
The 118 medics intervened promptly on site and provided aid to the injured. Fortunately, those involved are not in danger of their lives.
Traffic Police officers are present for the surveys and management of road safety, while the Consorzio Autostrade Siciliane (CAS) has reported possible slowdowns and queues in the affected section.
Traffic in the direction of the Etna capital proceeds slowly. Motorists are advised to use maximum caution and attention when traveling along the artery.
