The lifeless body of a foreign citizen was found in the early evening yesterday at the Rossano urban area station. The sad discovery was made by the firefighters’ team from the Viale dei Normanni detachment in a house that had been uninhabited for some time. The completely dilapidated house is located in a side street of Via Arno, one of the parallel streets of the central Via Nazionale. The patrols of the police officers of the Corigliano Rossano public safety station, as well as the Carabinieri of the territorial department, arrived on the scene. The intervention of the coroner was necessary to establish the causes of death, even if it immediately appeared evident that the man was the victim of an illness, perhaps due to the excessive heat for the torrid temperatures of these days.
The entrances to the house had been bricked up for some time and the man almost certainly entered the house through some window or by forcing some other opening. The firefighters themselves had to struggle to enter the house as the front door was bricked up. The victim was certainly occupying that place illegally, having found a makeshift home there. The sultry heat and unbreathable air of these days will have created an unbearable bubble of air that perhaps contributed to the illness that killed him. Certainly the man lived alone and in a state of total poverty. A sad story of loneliness and poverty that has found its dramatic epilogue.
