“Run, run, there’s a guy literally stabbing everyone.” Initially he thought it was a Halloween-related prank, but then the passengers started pushing through the carriage, and his hand was left “covered in blood” spilled on the seat he was leaning on: this is the account of the stabbing on the train in Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom, provided by a witness to the BBC.

Olly Foster, the witness, said he heard people shouting, and reported seeing an elderly man stop the attacker from stabbing a younger girl, adding that the attack “felt like an eternity” although it lasted only a few minutes. Witnesses told Sky News they saw a man with a large knife on the platform after the train stopped. They then saw the man hit with a taser and restrained by the police.

London North Eastern Railway, which operates the route, urged customers not to travel today, saying services could be canceled at short notice.
