A landslide fell this afternoon around 6pm on a stretch of the Strada Statale 18 Tirrena Inferiore, in the Canal Grande area of the municipality of San Nicola Arcella, on the Cosenza Tyrrhenian Sea. Due to the heavy rain that fell in recent hours, a landslide occurred with the scattering of earth and debris on part of the roadway.
The alarm was raised by a passing motorist. Firefighters from the Scalea detachment and Anas personnel went to the site to regulate traffic, ascertain the extent of the landslide and establish how to intervene to remove the material from the roadway.
Today’s landslide occurred in approximately the same point where, in 2019, a landslide of soil and vegetation invaded the state road.
