The Calabria Region presents the results of the surveys for the 2025 bathing season, confirming a quality framework among the best at a national level. The analyzes conducted by Arpacal in the 649 sampling points show extremely encouraging data: 97% of the monitored waters are fully swimmable, with a clear prevalence of stretches classified as excellent quality.
The commitment of the institutions for the protection of the sea
“A result – declares the vice-president and councilor for public works and soil protection of the Calabria region, Filippo Mancuso – which testifies to the effectiveness of the control system and the growing attention towards the protection of the sea. The arrival of the bathing season is always an eagerly awaited moment, in which citizens and tourists return to experience our beaches and our sea. As part of the activities planned on state maritime property, it is essential that those who frequent the Calabrian coasts can do so with serenity, counting on clear and updated information on the quality of the water, the safety of the coastal stretches and the accessibility of the beaches. Ensuring a safe and pleasant bathing experience means putting the health of bathers, the care of the coasts and transparency towards users at the centre. It is a commitment that the Calabria Region carries out continuously, thanks to a careful monitoring system and constant collaboration with Arpacal, the coastal municipalities and the port authorities”.
Excellence and safety of the Calabrian coasts
Almost all of the monitored coastlines fall into the highest quality range, while the remaining bathing waters fall into the good and sufficient categories, outlining an overall picture of great reliability and safety for citizens and visitors.
“The numbers of the analyzes – says vice-president Mancuso – tell of a Calabria that invests in the quality, protection of the sea and the credibility of its monitoring system. The healthiness of our waters, the care of the coasts and the commitment to making the beaches increasingly accessible are fundamental elements to guarantee the safety of bathers and to offer a serene and high-level bathing experience. The fact that almost all of the sampled waters are bathing, and largely excellent, is the result of constant and shared work. It is a goal that pushes us to continue with determination, because the quality of our sea is an identifying, environmental and economic value on which to build the future of the region”.
Transparency and consultation of data
All data relating to the quality of bathing water can be consulted on the regional portal, constantly updated during the bathing season, to guarantee citizens clear, accessible and transparent information.
