The State Police Vibo Valentia this morning executed to seven precautionary measures in prison towards as many subjects held responsible for the brutal aggression that took place on 6 January inside a room in Serra San Bruno (VV), during an evening organized for the celebrations of the Epiphany.
The operation, conducted by the Vibo Valentia mobile team in collaboration with the Serra San Bruno police station, is the result of an articulated investigative activity coordinated by the Public Prosecutor of the Republic of Vibo Valentia. The arrested must respond, in various capacities, of the crimes of extortion, personal injuries, threats and aggravated damage.
According to what was reconstructed by the investigators, the story already originated on December 20, when one of the suspects had sent an intimidating message to the organizer of New Year’s Events and Epiphany, demanding free admission for himself and his group. Otherwise, he had threatened “consequences” for him and for those present. For fear of retaliation, the organizer had tacitly consent to their presence in the restaurant.
The group then showed up both on the New Year’s night and on the occasion of the Epiphany party, arbitrarily access the club, where the entrance was reserved for those who paid a ticket. The situation precipitated on the evening of January 6, when – following the refusal by the staff to let them enter a reserved area – the suspects raided violently, hitting three employees of the restaurant with kicks and punches and also causing damage to the structure.
The victims were rescued at the emergency room of the Serra San Bruno hospital, where the injuries reported were deemed curable in a maximum of 20 days. Decisive, for the identification of the attackers, the testimonies collected between the numerous present and the images of the video surveillance cameras. The elements that emerged allowed the investigators to outline a clear accusatory framework, sufficient to request the application of the precautionary measures, granted by the investigating judge of the court of Vibo Valentia.
In addition to the mobile team and the Serra San Bruno police station, the agents of the Mobile Team of Catanzaro (where one of the suspects), the Crime Prevention Departments of Vibo Valentia and Siderno and the dog units of the local police station took part in the operation. The arrested were transferred to the district houses of Vibo Valentia and Catanzaro, where they will remain awaiting trial. Previously, they had already been affected by administrative measures such as the oral notice and the “Willy” Daspo, issued by the Quaestor of Vibo Valentia.
The whole affair is part of the context of growing attention from the police towards phenomena of youth deviance and organized petty crime, often attributable to dynamics typical of the so -called “baby gang”.
