Rai’s explanation
«With regard to the interruption of the opening ceremony of the Football World Cup, it is specified that Rai operated in full compliance with the indications and editorial and technical constraints established by FIFA for the management of the event», we read in a note from the company.
«The programming of the live broadcast was regulated by a rigorous timing, shared with the international organisation, which provided for mandatory transitions between the different moments of the broadcast.
The interruption one minute before the end of Shakira’s musical performance – Rai underlines – is to be attributed to an operational evaluation linked to compliance with the schedule and the switching of the line to Tg1. It was an error in the management of the final timing, for which Rai expresses regret to the public.”
