Tragedy in a neighborhood of the American capital where on Friday evening a three-year-old African-American girl was killed by a stray bullet while she was on board an SUV that found itself in the middle of a shootout. The Washington Post reports it. Ty'ah is the 58th victim this year in Southeast Washington, the area with the city's highest crime rate, and the youngest.

A few hours earlier, in the same area, a high school student was grazed on the head by a bullet that went through the window of the classroom where he was. During the Covid pandemic, crime has increased in all major cities in the United States but in Washington more than anywhere else the rate is still high. Last year it hit a record high with the highest number of murders in a quarter of a century.
