Sinner and Berrettini win at Wimbledon: now the derby. Sonego and Fognini also advance

Fourth set victory in the first of Jannik Sinner at Wimbledon as world number 1. The Italian beat the German Yannick Hanfmann 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. In the second round there will therefore be an Italian derby between Sinner himself and the Roman Matteo Berrettini who won in four sets against the Hungarian Martin Fucsovics, with a score of 7-6, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. Debut with victory for Lorenzo Sonego in the men’s singles tournament at Wimbledon, the third Grand Slam event of the season which began today on the grass courts of the All England Club in London. The 29-year-old tennis player from Turin, number 54 in the world, has Argentine Mariano Navone beaten32nd in the international ranking and 31st seed, with a score of 6-4, 7-6, (2) 6-4. In the second round Sonego will challenge the Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut, winner today against the German Maximilian Marterer.

Fabio Fognini he passed the first round at Wimbledon by beating the 20-year-old Frenchman Luca Van Assche, number 104 in the ranking and who arrived from the qualifiers as a ‘lucky loser’. The 37-year-old Ligurian, number 94 in the world, won in three sets, 6-1, 6-3, 7-5, in just over two hours of play.

Alcaraz, world number 3 and seed, defending champion, won against Estonian Mark Lajal, coming from the qualifiers, by 7-6 (3) 7-5 6-2. Medvedev, ATP number 5 and of the draw, defeated American Aleksandar Kovacevic by the score of 6-3 6-4 6-2.
