Sinner flies to the round of 16 of the US Open: Wawrinka tamed in 4 sets

Jannik Sinner concedes the first set but continues his run in the US Open draw, the fourth and final Slam of the current season on the hard courts of Flushing Meadows. The 22-year-old from South Tyrol, seeded number 6, reached the round of 16 by beating Stan Wawrinka – champion in 2016 – 6-3, 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 after almost three hours of play. The next obstacle for Sinner is the winner of the match between Alexander Zverev and Grigor Dimitrov.

Previously Matteo Arnaldi’s feat at the US Open: the Ligurian tennis player beats the British Norrie, seeded 16th in the seeding, with a score of 6-3 6-4 6-3 and reaches a championship for the first time in his career eighth Slam. Now Carlos Alcaraz awaits him in the next round. This evening’s victory still earns Arnaldi entry into the top50.
