A serious accident occurred in Soverato, where an 18-year-old boy, originally from Catanzaro, was injured after being electrocuted by touching a lamppost in Piazza Casalinuovo. The accident abruptly interrupted the calm atmosphere of the evening, with those present quickly realizing the gravity of the situation. The boy, lying on the asphalt and illuminated by the headlights of the cars that were stopping, immediately attracted the attention of passers-by, who gathered around him.
The emergency services, including the 118 paramedics, the Carabinieri and the firefighters, intervened promptly. The young man was defibrillated on the spot, but his condition immediately appeared very serious. He was then urgently transferred to the hospital to receive specialized medical care (first in Soverato, then to the Policlinico di Germaneto).
In the meantime, the firefighters are examining the light pole to ensure its safety and understand the causes of the accident. Also on site are the mayor Daniele Vacca and the public lighting technicians. An initial hypothesis that is being investigated is that there may have been a dispersion of electrical energy.
