The Messina traffic police intensifies checks against excess speed from Monday 21 to Sunday 27 April.
The checks will be carried out along the Air to/18 Messina-Catania and A/20 Messina-Palermo, in particular in the highest incidental sections. In a press release, the police recalls the speed limits in force: 130 km/h on the highways, reduced to 110 in case of bad weather; 110 km/h on the main suburban roads, which descend at 90 km/h in adverse weather conditions.

The penalties provided:

  • Between 40 and 60 km/h: sanction from 543 to 2,170 euros, 6 points and suspension of the driving license from 1 to 3 months.

  • Over 60 km/h: sanction between 845 and 3,382 euros, 10 points and suspension of the license from 6 to 12 months; In the event of a biennial recurrence, the driving license is expected.

  • More severe penalties are applied to new drivers and professional drivers.

    Particular attention will be paid to commercial vehicles and passenger transport, with checks also via chronotachigraphs and digital tachigraphs to monitor the actual speeds of the vehicles.
