«In the budget law that the Meloni Government will send to Parliament for approval there is a cut of 50 million euros for State Road 106. An event as serious as it is predictable, perpetrated to the detriment of the territory by a Government that never misses an opportunity to show itself as an enemy of Calabria and the Calabrians». This was stated by the mayor of Reggio Calabria, Giuseppe Falcomatà. And the deputy of the 5 Star Movement, Vittoria Baldino, adds: «Yet in the same maneuver there are over 700 million in residues, resources committed but not yet paid, intended for the Strait Bridge, which are instead untouched because it is considered a “strategic work”. This is the Meloni government’s strategy to make ends meet for the next three years: cuts to ministries and investments to increase military spending and support symbolic works.
The cut on the Ionian state road would instead be “fake news” for the President of the Region Roberto Occhiuto, according to whom “the funds for the 106 are established by a Cipess resolution so they cannot be reduced like this. Furthermore, these funds have already given rise to tenders and some lots have already been assigned. Sometimes – he added – absolutely bizarre news comes out. A minimum of in-depth analysis would be enough to understand that the funds already spent cannot be deducted.”
