She left on September 24th, from the comprehensive institute of San Costantino Calabro (VV), the only center in Calabria, “Rinate – Beyond feminicide”, photographic exhibition by Stefania Prandian integral part of a project aimed at schools (11 “pilot” secondary schools of first and second level between Calabria, Piedmont, Lazio, Lombardy and Emilia-Romagna).

The initiative is promoted by“Rea” association (Reacting to Violence), in collaboration with the “Vodafone” and “Media Literacy” foundations and is structured as a sort of investigation aimed at identifying negative stereotypes and direct or indirect justifications for violence, with the aim of overcoming them. With the mayors and administrators of the municipalities of the Comprehensive Institute present (Nicola De Rito, San Costantino, Nicoletta Corigliano, Ionadi and Michele Mesiano, Francica), the launch was attended by the vice-president of the European Parliament, Pina Picierno, founding member of “Rea”, who interacted with boys and girls on European policies on gender equality, and the principal, Luisa Vitale, said: «particularly proud that the Institute I direct is leading the way in the initiative. The theme of gender violence – he continued – occupies part of our activities to enrich the training offer, because we believe that school is a strong and necessary training center for the construction of new consciences”.

Rinate – Beyond femicide”, through the technique of collaborative photojournalism, tells the story of four women (Azadè, Beatrice, Laura, Marina) who survived feminicide. Through their portraits, words and photos of objects, the story of the mechanisms of male violence takes shape. And, from this, the questions that students ask themselves and ask. Through the resulting debate and dialogue, the school radio editorial teams get to work creating podcasts and articles to raise awareness of the topic being discussed. In addition to this, the project includes a survey aimed at pupils aged 13 to 18, thanks to questionnaires and interviews collected by the “young reporters” of the school editorial offices of the “Media Literacy” Foundation network, the contents of which are conveyed through the radio all inside the program “La Giusta Frequenza”, broadcast on the DAB frequencies of the Foundation itself, published in the monthly Zai.net (paper written by students and distributed in all high schools) and, finally, shared on the web. Next stops are: Andria (8 October, IISS “Lotti”; Rome (15 October, “Plauto” high school, 17 October, IC “Ennio Quirino Visconti”, 22 October, “Vittoria Colonna” high school); Turin (29 October, high school “Altiero Spinelli”); Chieri (31 October, “Augusto Monti” high school); ); Parma (21 November, “Toschi” high school). Next result: eradicating gender violence and no longer having to talk about it except in the past tense.
