«We had a meeting with the government on the structural budget plan, we received positive responses to two of our requestsyou, the consolidation of the tax wedge and the fact that pensions must be reevaluated, because pensions cannot be cut and cash in on pensioners. Some very important questions remain open for us». The secretary of Uil said it Pierpaolo Bombardieri in Gizzeria (in the province of Catanzaro) where he took part in a meeting on the topic of work.

«In the meantime – added Bombardieri – the question of work, of wages: despite the Istat numbers, we continue to maintain that it’s a poor job. Six million people, according to ministry data, do not reach 12 thousand euros gross per year. There is still a very significant number of temporary workers and the burden of wages has not recovered the inflation that we have been carrying with us since the Covid period. There is an issue that concerns security, there is an issue that concerns taxation. In this country – underlined the Uil secretary – the usual suspects, employees and pensioners, continue to pay, and a wink – in our opinion – is given to those who do not pay their taxes, the European Commission also says so in a document criticizing amnesties and the Flat Tax. And two major fundamental problems remain open, I would add for the South: first and foremost that of healthcarewhich in the south is not at the level of the rest of the country, we need investments. Then we deposited signatures against the law on differentiated autonomy and in our opinion these are two strategic points on which we ask the Government for answers”.

Furthermore, the Uil secretary continued, «there is the issue of the welfare state in this country, not only of pensions, but of how in the coming years we will provide a response to those who risk remaining in difficulty and to those who live in this moment of difficulty. I mention the women who have seen their expectations mortified through the consolidation of Opzione donna, the young people who do not have a guaranteed pension, those who do particularly demanding jobs which then also cause fatal accidents and from this point of view the government and the minister have claimed that they have no intention of making any changes. It is clear – concluded Bombardieri – that if these are the answers we will respond”.
