One year after its statutory and organizational revision, on Sunday 21 April the “Don Silvestro Marano” proposes the “Association Day”, an event open not only to its members, but also to their families and the entire community.
The Association was founded way back in 1986 to remember and keep alive the closeness to young people who
characterized the work of Don Silvestro Marano, deputy parish priest of the Cosenza parish of Sant'Aniello,
passed away, aged just 36, in a tragic car accident. In 2023 “Don Marano” also took over the
as a Third Sector Organization and, in particular, as a Social Promotion Association, registering in
Single National Register of the Third Sector.
Don Salvatore Fuscaldo, parish priest of S. Aniello and president of “Don Marano” expresses his satisfaction
and satisfaction with what has been achieved in the last twelve months: “After a period in which, also due to
of the pandemic, the engine speeds were very low, the “Don Marano” restarted with new impetus and with
broader objectives”. First of all, we have resumed sporting activities for children and young people, already achieving the first comforting results. Furthermore, thanks to the expansion of our sphere of activity to the social sphere, we have started planning some initiatives aimed at promoting the inclusion and social maturation of the most vulnerable subjects, also through sports practice”.
The program of the Association Day includes, after the celebration of the members' assembly, the
participation and animation of the Sunday Mass and, therefore, the dedication of the
five-a-side football pitch at the S. Aniello facility. It's about recognition towards a man who, up to his
premature death, with generosity and docility, he made his time and skills available to the parish community of S. Aniello and, in particular, to young people.
This will be followed by a friendly football match between the representative of the “Maria Rosaria Sessa press club”
and that of Don Marano senior. At the end of the morning, the “Solidarity Lunch” organized as usual by the Lilli Funaro Foundation and open, for the occasion, also to the participants of the Day
Associative. In the afternoon, the first edition of the “Don Silvestro Marano” junior memorial.
