If there is no fraud, a direction to monitor the vote. This is the very serious suspicion raised by one of the three mayoral candidates in the municipal elections taking place in Cirò Marina. Giuseppe Dell’Aquila, head of the “Common Welfare” list which opposes the civic coalition led by Maria Grazia Panebianco and “Radici e Futuro” led by Nicodemo Parrilla, with a post on social media announced that he had denounced what allegedly happened yesterday evening in section no. 1 allocated together with 9 others in the premises of the primary school in Via Libertà.

The mayoral candidate’s complaint

«During the voting operations – he writes – a closed ballot was found on the floor in the booth by a voter who was going to vote. The episode was immediately reported by one of our list representatives who, having noticed the anomaly, requested the immediate recount of the ballots. After the President’s refusal, thanks to the intervention of the police, a recount was carried out which confirmed the lack of one ballot compared to the total number of ballots. So the real suspicion is that there were initially two missing cards in that section.

It is clear that the missing ballots are most likely useful to those who have to monitor the vote, indicating a probable well-branched and widespread direction inside and outside the polling stations.

“Illegality must not influence the vote”

Illegality must not affect the free vote requested by honest citizens who hope for a better future. We are all tired of the power games that dominate too often in our territories.

We hope and trust in the investigations of the police, always attentive and guarantors of the lives of each of us. But we ask citizens to stop being influenced, hoping that what happened has interrupted the alleged illegal act in progress and brought the vote back to the regularity that we all hope for.”
