In the fiftieth year of the publication of Horcynus Orca, the monumental novel by Stefano D’Arrigo relive through the show «Horcynus Orca. Ghostly journey into the sea of Stefano d’Arrigo’s literature “on stage in absolute preview in Taobuk, at the Antico Theater in Taormina, Sunday 22 June at 9.30 pm.
D’Arrigo’s masterpiece is celebrated through A transmedia show that mixes words, images in videomapping, music and digital sounds on an extraordinary Site Site journey. In the cast Vinicio Capossela, Caterina Murino, Linda Gennari, Max Casacci (Subsonica) and the friendly participation of Davide Livermore.
An anniversary, that of D’Arrigo’s masterpiece, which is deeply linked to the guiding motif of this edition of the Festival designed and directed by Antonella Ferrara: the boundaries. Multiple, in fact, are those that the protagonist ‘editor’s note Cambria will have to cross: geographic, like the Strait of Messina who must cross to return home and leave the war behind; ideological, given that the novel develops in 1943; linguistic, where high language and low language intertwine; Existential, as life and death touch and touch each other constantly, while the sea looms on everything which, with its primordial strength, represents the border between man and nature.
A work in which several media intersect: the video images mapped are made by D-Wok with the creative direction of Paolo Gep Cuccotransforming the surface of the theater with changes of textures, digital waves, 3D effects, surface movements, illustrations created by AI. Each part is sounded live from Max Casacci of the Subsonica, as well as the different scenes are separated by a piece of music. The dramaturgy alternates reads drawn directly from the novel to others in which the text becomes dialogue with several voices with Vinicio Capossela, Caterina Murino, Linda Gennari and Davide Livermoreand an extraordinary auditory journey composed of natural sounds transformed into digital harmonies by Max Casacci. The text of the show was adapted by the book by Andrea Porcheddu, Claudio Collovà and Eliana Rotella.
