If on the one hand the city government rejoices and takes the credit, on the other there are those who “dismantle” a narrative defined as very far from the truth.
The latest announcement from Palazzo dei Giurati arrived on Saturday, when a press note also issued to agencies announced that the municipal administration of the Pearl of the Ionian Sea welcomed with great satisfaction the data released by Global Blue, which crowned the city as the tourism capital of Southern Italy, as according to recent estimates Taormina recorded an increase of +624% in tourist volumes compared to summer 2019, clearly surpassing Capri (+156%).
A result that the Municipality has defined as testimony to the success of a relaunch path based on quality, investments and strategic vision: numbers which for the mayor Cateno De Luca «confirm the attractive force of Taormina and the goodness of the work carried out in recent years – he commented – we are working quickly to raise the quality of all services and make our city increasingly live up to the expectations of those who choose it as a destination.
